Reviews
Sichuan Pavilion was one of the few Chinese restaurants I could get to without a car when I moved to the area 10 years ago. It provided a taste closer to home and a cozy atmosphere where I could relax. To that point, the restaurant was conveniently located (right off Farragut N.) and had more authentic options.
For Sichuan fare, I’d recommend chicken with hot dry pepper, beef/fish fillet in hot sauce, and pork/chicken/eggplant in hot garlic sauce. They are all seasoned with great flavors. You can also ask for recommendations.
As a rule of thumb, dishes start with general Tao, sweet and sour, sesame, orange flavored, protein with broccoli etc. are Chinese American creation. They’re fine but skip those if you want to try more authentic and regional cuisines.
Delicious, authentic Chinese food. A little pricey. Ordered the chicken with hot dry chili pepper, cumin lamb, chinese snow peas, and pork chops. They were all delicious! There was a discount on weekends and if you pay cash. We came for a weekend lunch and it was crowded, so best to call ahead to reserve a table.
I order General Tso’s chicken for lunch and I can’t say I’m really impressed. The breading fell off on some of the chicken pieces, the portion was little and kinda pricey. I don’t think I would order the same item perhaps try something different.
Service was impeccable. Food was great. Atmosphere was cozy. Friendly staffs....recommended!!!!
One of the best chinese food in Washington DC
They have egg shell(鸡蛋壳) inside the food, eww. And when I complained about that and showed them the shell, they didn’t say sorry, but told me it is a very natural thing. I was speechless.
The taste of fish fillet is pretty good, but scallion pancake(葱油饼)is terrible
Lunch was terrible! Crispy fried pork belly was nothing but fried fat bites, no bits of meat at all. No flavor either. Hot and sour soup flavorless and no crispy wontons provided. General tso was ok, happy it was white meat.
Find a parking spot was bit challenging. However, the restaurant was maintained good & clean. Prices are bit on the higher side but worth the visit. Plenty of options with Sichuan type dishes. Staffs were friendly. One thing I did not like about the experience was forcing customer for 15% minimum tips. Definition of “Tips” is clearly misunderstood in many restaurants. Its not a default thing. A customer would voluntarily provide tips, if he or she felt the services were good, not by forcing. Default gratuity only applies for party of more than 5.
Authentic Chinese flavor on every dish we tried.
Outstanding shredded chicken in hot garlic sauce was the best I had with a tangy flavor which I haven’t tasted in other restaurants for that type of dish.
